Villa Almerico Capra, known as La Rotonda, stands just outside Vicenza in Northern Italy as a masterwork of Renaissance architecture. Begun by Andrea Palladio in 1567, the villa was not completed until 1605, after the Capra brothers acquired it in 1592 and oversaw its final construction under the direction of Vincenzo Scamozzi. The building takes its name from the Capra family, whose patronage secured its completion. Today it functions as a private museum and is conserved as part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site designation for the City of Vicenza and the Palladian Villas of the Veneto, standing as one of Palladio's most enduring contributions to Renaissance villa design.
