The Villa Gazzotti Grimani, built in 1542 in the village of Bertesina near Vicenza, stands as an early masterwork of Renaissance architect Andrea Palladio. This Palladian villa exemplifies the architectural principles that would define the region's aesthetic heritage. In 1994, the villa became part of UNESCO's "Vicenza, City of Palladio" World Heritage Site, which was expanded two years later to encompass Palladian villas throughout the Veneto countryside and redesignated as "City of Vicenza and Palladian Villas of the Veneto."
