Villa Erba is a Renaissance Revival villa built in 1894 in Cernobbio on the western shore of Lake Como in northern Italy, designed by architect Giovan Battista Borsani. Commissioned by Luigi Erba, brother of pharmaceutical magnate Carlo Erba, the villa was conceived as a monument to wealth and status. Following Luigi's death, it passed to his daughter Carla and her family, including filmmaker Luchino Visconti. In 1986 the villa entered public ownership and was converted into an exposition and congress center. Now designated an Italian national heritage site, it remains a significant example of 19th-century architectural ambition in the Lake Como region.
