Villa Lysis, an Art Nouveau villa built in 1905 on the island of Capri, was conceived as a private refuge by the French industrialist and poet Jacques d'Adelswärd-Fersen. Originally called La Gloriette, the residence was dedicated to what Fersen inscribed as "the youth of love" and served as his self-imposed exile from France following a scandal involving Parisian schoolboys and provocative tableaux vivants. The villa has since been known as Villa Fersen.
