Vitebsky railway station in Saint Petersburg is an Art Nouveau structure designed by Konstantin Thon. Originally called St. Petersburg–Tsarskoselsky station, it was the first railway station built in Saint Petersburg and the entire Russian Empire, initially serving the suburban royal residences of Tsarskoye Selo. Though its present-day building is considerably newer than this original facility, the station was later renamed Vitebsky after Vitebsk, a Belarusian city, as its rail network expanded. The station holds the status of a federal cultural heritage site in Russia.
