Volcano House is a series of historic hotels perched at the edge of Kīlauea within Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park on the Island of Hawai'i. The original 1877 structure, built in the National Park Service rustic style, now houses the Volcano Art Center and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The current hotel, constructed in 1941 and expanded in 1961, continues to operate at this dramatic volcanic site, though it has periodically closed due to volcanic activity—most notably between May and October 2018 when eruptions and earthquakes forced a public shutdown of the summit area and facilities.
