Waldschmidt Hall, an academic building at the University of Portland in Oregon, was constructed in 1891 as West Hall for the original Portland University in North Portland, which overlooked the Willamette River. Designed by William Frederick McCaw, Richard H. Martin Jr., and Frederick Manson White, the five-story structure exemplifies Romanesque Revival architecture, executed in brick and stone. Originally part of the defunct Portland University, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977 and underwent renovation in 1992, when it received its current name. Today the oldest building on campus, Waldschmidt Hall houses the university's administration offices and classrooms.
