Built in the late eighteenth century and expanded between 1918 and 1924, the Colonial Revival structure is a one-story, five-bay rectangular building featuring a gambrel roof and white-stuccoed stone walls. Founded in 1808, it was recognized in 1924 as the oldest schoolhouse in the state. The school remained in operation until 1947, when it closed as parents opted to send their children to the AI duPont school district. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994.
