Located on The Green in Dover, Delaware, the Old Statehouse is a two-story brick structure built between 1787 and 1792 in Middle Georgian style. Its five-bay facade is distinguished by a fanlight above the center door and a Palladian window on the second floor, while a shingled side gabled roof is crowned with an octagonal cupola. Originally the state's sole seat of government from 1792 to 1932 and serving as the Kent County Court House until 1873, the building received Victorian modifications in 1873 before being restored to its original appearance in 1976. Wings added between 1836 and 1926 reflect later expansions, and extensive renovations occurred in 2007. Now listed on the National Register of Historic Places and part of the Delaware National Historic Park, it operates as a museum open to the public.
