Old Town Hall in Wilmington, Delaware, is a substantial two-story brick edifice built in 1798 and executed in the late-Georgian and early-Federal style. The building is distinguished by its gently sloping roof crowned by a large octagonal cupola, which once featured a wooden balustrade. Constructed to house Wilmington's city government, it served that function until 1916 and became a centerpiece of significant public events throughout Delaware's history. Now owned and managed by the Delaware Historical Society, the structure was recognized for its historical importance when it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.
