Located in Philipstown, Putnam County, New York, the Walter Thompson House and Carriage House is a Tudor Revival residence constructed between 1883 and 1890, originally named North Redoubt after a nearby American Revolutionary War fortification. The two-story main house features characteristic half-timbering set on a stone foundation, with a hipped roof supported by heavy timber brackets. The adjoining carriage house comprises two wings connected by a hyphen, the principal wing distinguished by a gable roof crowned with a cupola topped by a domical roof. Recognized as a significant example of late nineteenth-century Revival architecture, the complex was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.
