Wilsons Promontory Lighthouse, built in 1859, stands on South East Point at Victoria's southernmost mainland peninsula, commanding nearly 360-degree views across Bass Strait. Located approximately 18 kilometres from Tidal River, this heritage structure has long served to protect shipping navigating the treacherous strait. The lighthouse forms the centrepiece of Wilsons Promontory Lightstation and features dormitory-style accommodation. Recognised for its historical and cultural significance, it is listed on the Commonwealth Heritage List, the Victorian War Heritage Inventory, and the National Trust of Australia (Victoria).
