The Windsor Beach Apartments, a thirteen-story apartment building completed in 1927–28 in Chicago's South Shore neighborhood, represents a distinctive fusion of Moorish and contemporary design. Architect Robert S. De Goyler synthesized elements from Islamic architecture with the emergent Art Deco and Moderne styles, producing a facade distinguished by patterned brickwork, an arched entrance path, and projecting window bays. Designed for affluent residents, the building's lakefront siting and restricted floor plans—no more than eight apartments per level—ensured relative seclusion and exclusivity during the initial surge of Chicago's apartment construction before the Great Depression halted such development. Originally called the South Shore Beach Apartments, it was designated to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
