Located in Miami Beach's historic Architectural District, the Ritz Plaza Hotel is a 12-story Art Deco skyscraper designed by architect Lawrence Murray Dixon and completed in 1940. At 62 metres (203 feet) tall, it was the city's tallest building for three decades until surpassed by 5660 Condominiums. Now known as the SLS South Beach, the hotel remains a notable example of Art Deco design from Miami Beach's mid-century development.
