Winterthur railway station, the principal rail hub of the city of Winterthur in the Swiss canton of Zurich, was designed by Jakob Friedrich Wanner and completed in 1855 in the Renaissance Revival style. A major junction linking Switzerland's largest railway nucleus in Zurich with Eastern Switzerland and connections to Germany and Austria, the station ranks as Switzerland's fifth-busiest. Its five standard-gauge platforms serve nine tracks and accommodate Zurich's suburban S-Bahn network alongside InterRegio, InterCity, and EuroCity trains; direct service to Zurich Airport is available within 15 minutes, seven times hourly. The station functions as the central node for local and regional bus services and is recognized as a class A Swiss cultural property of national significance.
