Woodlands is a historic home and farm complex near Charlottesville in Albemarle County, Virginia, blending Federal and Greek Revival aesthetics across multiple periods of construction. The main brick I-house, built in 1842–1843 with Federal detailing, was substantially enlarged in the 1890s by a two-story rear addition combining frame and brick construction, accented with wraparound verandahs of one and two stories. The property preserves an important ensemble of agricultural outbuildings, including a tall, narrow frame barn from the 1840s and later twentieth-century structures such as a frame dairy barn, a glazed-tile silo, and a stone-and-frame horse barn erected during the 1910s and 1920s. Designated a Virginia Historic Landmark and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989, the complex documents the evolution of a Piedmont agricultural estate over nearly two centuries.
