Located in central Edirne, the Yahya Bey Mosque was commissioned by the poet Yahya Bey and completed by the renowned Ottoman architect Mimar Sinan in 1577–1578. Built in the Ottoman architectural style, the mosque employs alternating layers of cut stone and brick in a square plan, crowned by a single dome and minaret. The structure underwent restoration in the 1990s and is currently managed by the General Directorate of Foundations. It was formally registered as a protected cultural monument in 2003.
