Located in Edirne, Turkey, the Şeyhi Çelebi Mosque is an Ottoman-era structure commissioned by Şeyhi Çelebi, son of Kadı Bedrettin Mamut Efendi, and designed by the renowned architect Mimar Sinan following his completion of the Selimiye Mosque. Built likely toward the end of the sixteenth century (possibly around 1574), the mosque employs a square plan constructed with alternating courses of cut stone and brick in characteristic Ottoman fashion. The structure suffered significant damage over time: its minaret was destroyed when struck by cannonball fire during the Balkan War, and an adjacent madrasa was lost during the 1894 invasion.
