Located in the Büyükçekmece district of Istanbul, the Sokollu Mehmed Pasha Mosque is a 16th-century Ottoman ruin designed by the renowned imperial architect Mimar Sinan and erected in 1567 for Grand Vizier Sokollu Mehmed Pasha. Built beside the Kanuni Sultan Suleiman Bridge, it originally stood in open countryside. Today, only fragmentary remains survive: a minaret, one gateway, and low walls. The mosque's most distinctive feature is its monolithic minaret, carved from a single block of stone—a rare design in Turkey, with only one comparable example known in Egypt. It is one of three mosques of the same name commissioned from Sinan in Istanbul.
