Designed by the preeminent Ottoman imperial architect Mimar Sinan and completed in 1578, the Sokollu Mehmed Pasha Mosque stands in the Azapkapı neighborhood of Beyoğlu in Istanbul. Built for the grand vizier Sokollu Mehmed Pasha during his tenure from 1565 to 1579, this Ottoman mosque represents one of three structures bearing the same name that Sinan created in the city. Located near what is now the Atatürk Bridge spanning the Golden Horn, the mosque exemplifies Ottoman architectural tradition of its era.
