Designed by renowned San Francisco architect Julia Morgan and officially named Laniākea (Hawaiian for "open skies" or "wide horizons"), this Mediterranean Revival clubhouse in Honolulu was considered one of Morgan's favorite projects. Located at 1040 Richards Street, the complex comprises two connected units joined by a two-story loggia: a three-story main building with a 165-foot frontage facing Richards Street, and a smaller two-story rear unit with a basement. Between the buildings sits a 31-by-61-foot swimming pool, while the loggia opens to a courtyard for gatherings and dining. The rear building's Elizabeth Fuller Memorial Hall, named for a charter member of the Hawaiian Girls Club, anchors the complex, and the building houses Cafe Julia, named in honor of its architect. Now on the National Register of Historic Places, the building remains a significant example of Mediterranean Revival design in Hawaii.
