Completed in 1986 as part of the World Financial Center in Lower Manhattan's Battery Park City, 200 Liberty Street is a 40-story, 577-foot tower designed by César Pelli & Associates. The building, which comprises one of four towers in what is now Brookfield Place, features a distinctive roof shaped like a mastaba—a truncated square pyramid—continuing an architectural theme of ancient structures across the complex. Its 1.6 million square feet of leasable space connects to the wider development via a skybridge over Liberty Street. Located directly across from the World Trade Center site, the building sustained severe damage in the September 11 attacks, with shattered windows and explosions affecting the adjacent Winter Garden Atrium; it underwent extensive restoration and reopened in 2002. The building was renamed from One World Financial Center to 200 Liberty Street when the complex rebranded as Brookfield Place in 2014.
