A 215-meter International Style skyscraper designed by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, 270 Park Avenue rose in Midtown Manhattan in 1960 as a glass and steel office tower. The building exemplified the modernist aesthetic that defined mid-twentieth-century corporate architecture, with its clean lines and transparent facade. It stood for nearly six decades before its demolition in 2019.
