Completed in 1971, 5900 Wilshire is a 132-metre, 32-story international-style skyscraper designed by Gin Wong of William L. Pereira & Associates for the Mutual Benefit Life Insurance Company. Located in Los Angeles's Miracle Mile district, it stands as the tallest building in that area and the second-tallest in the broader Wilshire Area. The 491,000-square-foot structure, originally built by the Shorenstein Company of San Francisco, sits across from the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and houses corporate offices and executive suites. The Ratkovich Company acquired the building in 2005 and undertook a significant $34 million renovation that extended through 2008, including a redesigned lobby. The building later served as the west coast headquarters for Variety magazine from 2008 to 2013, before becoming the headquarters of SBE Entertainment Group in 2014.
