Completed in 1969, 555 California Street is a 52-story, 779-foot skyscraper in San Francisco designed by William Wurster, Pietro Belluschi, and Skidmore, Owings and Merrill. Originally built as the Bank of America Center and the world headquarters of Bank of America, it briefly held the distinction of being the tallest building west of the Mississippi River until the Transamerica Pyramid's completion in 1972. In 2013, it was the largest building in San Francisco by floor area, and it remains the fourth tallest in the city. Following Bank of America's 1998 merger with NationsBank and relocation of headquarters to Charlotte, North Carolina, the building is now owned by Vornado Realty Trust and The Trump Organization.
