Completed in 1986, the 48-story 345 California Center stands 211.8 meters tall in San Francisco's financial district, making it the city's fifth-tallest building when spires are included. Designed by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill and developed by Norland Properties, the office tower was originally conceived to be 30 meters taller. The building occupies the center of a block surrounded by historic structures on all four corners. Its upper 11 floors house the Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco at Embarcadero, which occupies twin towers angled at 45 degrees to the main structure and maintains a separate street address at 222 Sansome. Glass skybridges throughout the building offer views across the San Francisco Bay Area.
