The American Commerce Center was a proposed supertall skyscraper designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox for Philadelphia that would have risen 460 meters (1,510 feet) across 63 floors, dominating the city's skyline nearly 400 meters taller than any existing building. The office tower, planned for the 19th Street side of Arch Street, would have been paired with a 144-meter hotel tower connected by a multi-story skybridge topped with a garden. Approved through zoning changes by Philadelphia City Council in December 2008, the project would have been the first supertall structure built among several competing proposals for the city and would have ranked as the second-tallest building in the United States by pinnacle height behind Willis Tower. However, the development was cancelled following the Great Recession, and the site was later acquired by Liberty Property Trust in 2011, eventually becoming the location of the Comcast Technology Center, now Philadelphia's tallest building.
