Located at 600 Montgomery Street in San Francisco's Financial District, the Transamerica Pyramid is a distinctive 48-story modernist skyscraper designed by architect William Pereira and completed in 1972. Rising 260 meters (853 feet), this pyramid-shaped tower stands as the second-tallest building in the San Francisco skyline, having held the title of tallest from its completion until 2017. Constructed from quartz, the building exemplifies futurist architecture and ranked among the world's eight tallest buildings upon its opening. Originally the headquarters of the Transamerica Corporation, the building's iconic silhouette remains part of the company's logo despite the corporation's relocation. The structure has become a major tourist attraction and continues to serve as an office building while undergoing interior renovations following its 2020 acquisition.
