The Bank of America Corporate Center rises 265 meters (871 feet) in Uptown Charlotte, North Carolina, a gleaming skyscraper designed by Argentine architect César Pelli in collaboration with HKS Architects and completed in 1992. As the headquarters of Bank of America and the tallest building in North Carolina since its construction, it ranks among the fifty highest buildings in the United States and the 174th tallest globally. The tower is locally nicknamed the "Taj McColl" after former Bank of America CEO Hugh McColl, who championed its development, and on clear days the structure is visible from 35 miles away.
