The Bank of America Tower, also known as 1 Bryant Park, is a 55-story deconstructivist skyscraper designed by Cookfox and Adamson Associates and completed in 2009 in Midtown Manhattan. Located at 1111 Avenue of the Americas between 42nd and 43rd Streets, the building rises 1,200 feet (370 m), making it the ninth tallest in New York City. Its seven-story base occupies the entire plot and incorporates the Stephen Sondheim Theatre, a designated landmark, along with retail spaces and a pedestrian atrium, while the tower above features a curtain wall of insulated glass panels. The structure contains 2.1 million square feet of office space, developed by the Durst Organization for Bank of America and completed in 2009 at a cost of $1 billion. Though it received LEED Platinum certification upon opening, the building has since exceeded citywide emissions limits due to high energy consumption.
