One Financial Center is a 590-foot modern skyscraper completed in 1983 by Rose Associates, designed by architect Pietro Belluschi in the Neues Bauen style. Located adjacent to Dewey Square in Boston's Financial District, this 46-story tower stands as the city's 12th-tallest building and occupies a historic triangular site between South Station and the Federal Reserve Bank Building. The building is notable for its dramatic 90-foot glass-roofed atrium spanning the first two stories, with the remaining floors dedicated to offices housing law firms, accountants, and financial services companies. Constructed on soil rather than bedrock, the tower required special engineering care during the nearby Big Dig project to prevent subsidence. Two radio masts extend from the roof, bringing the building's total pinnacle height to 683 feet, making it the sixth-tallest in Boston by this measurement.
