One International Place is a postmodern skyscraper in Boston's Financial District, completed in 1987 by the architectural firm Johnson/Burgee Architects. Standing 183 meters tall across 46 floors, it is Boston's tenth-tallest building and a prominent fixture in the city's harbor-facing skyline. The structure comprises three distinct elements: the main tower flanked by two smaller components of 27 and 19 stories, all unified through a central dome featuring a fifty-five-foot rain fountain court and winter garden that connects to Two International Place. The building is characterized by its extensive use of Palladian windows crowned with false arches—a design feature that has drawn critical attention for its relentless repetition across the facade and departure from the human-scaled proportions of its historical precedent.
