The Federal Reserve Bank Building, completed in 1977 in Boston's Dewey Square, stands 187 meters tall, making it the seventh-tallest structure in the city. Designed in the Neues Bauen style, the modernist skyscraper occupies a strategic location at the convergence of the Fort Point and Financial District neighborhoods, near Boston Harbor and the Fort Point Channel. A defining architectural feature is a distinctive opening at ground level that permits sea breezes to pass through the building, a design element that acknowledges the tower's proximity to the waterfront and major transportation infrastructure, including the South Station terminal.
