Completed in 1986, 599 Lexington Avenue is a 50-story, 199-meter glass skyscraper in Midtown Manhattan designed by Edward Larrabee Barnes and John MY Lee Architects. The first New York project for developer Mortimer Zuckerman and Boston Properties, the building was constructed on a site acquired for $84 million and stands as a contextually sensitive neighbor to the adjacent Citigroup Center. The lobbly features Frank Stella's *Salto nel Mio Sacco* and provides access to the Lexington Avenue/51st Street subway station, marked by a distinctive sloped glass canopy. Though completed without an anchor tenant, the building ranks among the city's most significant commercial structures. In 2016, FXFowle Architects—led by Bruce Fowle, a protégé of the original designer—undertook a comprehensive interior renovation to enhance lighting for the Stella artwork and modernize the lobby, with Pentagram contributing graphic design for wayfinding.
