Altena Castle is a medieval hill fortress built by the Counts of Berg in the early 12th century, situated on a spur of Klusenberg hill near the Lenne River in the Märkischer Kreis district of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Originally serving as a seat of the House of Berg, the castle was eventually abandoned by the family, who relocated their residence to Hamm. Today recognized as an architectural heritage monument, the castle functions as a youth hostel.
