Located on Bab al-Wazir street in the Darb al-Ahmar district of Islamic Cairo, the Amir Khayrbak Funerary Complex is an Islamic religious structure that began as a mausoleum established by Ottoman governor Khayr Bak in 1502–1503. Between 1519 and 1520, Khayr Bak expanded the complex by adding a madrasa and mosque, and annexed the adjacent Amir Alin Aq Palace for his residence. The complex exemplifies Circassian (Burji) Mamluk architecture and now forms part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Islamic Cairo, situated near the Citadel to the southeast and the Aqsunqur Mosque to the northeast.
