Located at the corner of Avenida São João and Pedro Américo Street in São Paulo's República district, the Andraus Building is a 115-metre skyscraper designed by Majer Botkowski and completed in 1962. Its 32 floors made it a significant addition to downtown São Paulo's skyline. The building gained tragic historical prominence on 24 February 1972, when a devastating fire killed 16 people trapped inside and injured 330 others. Following renovation after the disaster, it was repurposed to house municipal and federal government offices.
