The Edifício Copan, located at Avenida Ipiranga 200 in São Paulo's city center, is one of Brazil's most emblematic modern buildings. Designed by Oscar Niemeyer with structural engineering by Joaquim Cardozo and completed in collaboration with Carlos Lemos, this 1966-inaugurated residential skyscraper rises 115 meters across thirty-two floors and features the country's largest reinforced concrete structure at the time. Comprising six interconnected blocks housing 1,160 apartments of varied sizes, the building shelters approximately five thousand residents across multiple social classes alongside more than seventy commercial establishments, together occupying 120,000 square meters. Conceived to mark São Paulo's Fourth Centenary, Copan stands as a landmark of modernist architecture in Brazil, recognized as a heritage structure of good class (Conpresp).
