Arolsen Castle, a baroque-style schloss in Bad Arolsen, Hesse, Germany, was designed by architect Julius Ludwig Rothweil. Built as the residence of the Principality of Waldeck and Pyrmont, the castle remains inhabited by Carl-Anton, Prince of Waldeck and Pyrmont, and his family, continuing its role as a seat of the former ruling house. The castle is notable as the birthplace of Princess Emma of Waldeck and Pyrmont, who became Queen consort of the Netherlands in the late nineteenth century. Today it functions as both a museum and active residence, and is recognized as a Kulturdenkmal (cultural monument).
