Built in 1926 for the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, the Art Annex originally functioned as the university's library. Designed by the architectural firms Trost & Trost and Elson H. Norris, the building exemplifies a distinctive Mayan-influenced hybrid of Pueblo Revival architecture. Its historic significance has been recognized through its listing on the New Mexico State Register of Cultural Properties in 1975 and the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.
