The Old Main Library stands in Albuquerque's Huning Highlands neighborhood as a striking example of Pueblo Revival architecture, completed in 1925 by architect Arthur Rossiter with interior decorations by Gustave Baumann. Built to serve as the primary facility of the Albuquerque Public Library, the building maintained that role until the opening of a new Main Library in 1975, after which it was repurposed as the library system's Special Collections branch, where it now houses historical and genealogical research materials. Recognized for its architectural significance, the building was added to the New Mexico State Register of Cultural Properties in 1975 and designated as an Albuquerque Historic Landmark before receiving individual listing on the National Register of Historic Places in 2024.
