Artist Point Overlook is a scenic viewpoint perched on the south rim of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone in Wyoming's Yellowstone National Park, designed in the National Park Service rustic style. Located east-northeast of Yellowstone Falls on the Yellowstone River, the overlook occupies a dramatic cliff-edge position. The site was named in 1883 by photographer Frank Jay Haynes, who believed it was where painter Thomas Moran had sketched his celebrated 1872 depictions of the falls—a claim later disproven by research showing Moran's sketches originated from the north rim. Despite this historical misattribution, the name persisted, anchoring the overlook to the Romantic artistic tradition that shaped early tourism and preservation efforts in the park.
