The Assumption of Mary Cathedral in Baia Mare, Romania, is a Jugendstil structure whose cornerstone was laid in 1905 and completed in 1906. Originally built as a church, it was elevated to cathedral status in 1930 when it became the seat of the newly established Romanian Catholic Diocese of Maramureș. Following the communist suppression of the Greek-Catholic Church in 1948, the building was reassigned to Romanian Orthodox use, a status it retains today, though its ecclesiastical ownership has remained legally contested. The cathedral is recognized as a Historic Monument.
