Located on Haidian Island in Haikou, Hainan province, the Baishamen Lighthouse stands 72 meters tall, making it the sixth tallest lighthouse in the world and the second tallest in China. Completed in 2000, the structure rises from a three-storey hexagonal base and features a triangular, cylindrical tower constructed entirely of white concrete. The active lighthouse serves as a landfall light for Haikou, positioned on the east side of the entrance to Haikou Bay, and projects a white flash every six seconds from a focal plane of 78 meters.
