Balfron Tower is a 27-storey residential tower block in Poplar, London Borough of Tower Hamlets, designed by Hungarian-British architect Ernő Goldfinger and completed in 1967. Built for the London County Council (later by the Greater London Council) as part of the Brownfield Estate—a social housing development nestled between Chrisp Street Market and the A12 northern approach to the Blackwall Tunnel—the 84-metre structure exemplifies Brutalist architecture. Goldfinger's design, conceived in 1963, shares stylistic affinities with his later Trellick Tower in West London. The building has been Grade II* listed since 1996, recognizing its architectural significance within London's postwar housing landscape.
