The BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi is the first traditional Hindu temple in the emirate and the largest in West Asia, completed in 2024. Built by the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha on 27 acres of land gifted by Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in 2015, the structure rises 108 feet and measures 262 feet long by 180 feet wide, constructed from Rajasthani pink sandstone and Italian marble. Seven shikhars symbolize the seven Emirates, while seven interior shrines honor Swaminarayan, Gunatitanand Swami, Radha-Krishna, Sita-Rama, Shiva-Parvati, Venkateshwara, Jagannath, and Ayyappan. Over 2,000 artisans crafted the stonework in India, and more than 200 international volunteers contributed over 690,000 hours. The mandir's carvings integrate Hindu scriptures with Arabian, Egyptian, Mesopotamian, and Native American artistic traditions. The complex encompasses prayer halls, a visitor centre, thematic gardens, and recreational facilities, attracting over 2.2 million visitors in its inaugural year and embodying interfaith cooperation through its diverse leadership.
