The Louvre Abu Dhabi is an art museum designed by Jean Nouvel and located on Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, operating under a 2007 agreement between the UAE and France that permits use of the Louvre name until 2047. Spanning approximately 24,000 square metres with 8,000 square metres of gallery space, it is the largest art museum in the Arabian Peninsula. The museum showcases artworks from around the world with the stated intent to bridge Eastern and Western artistic traditions, and serves as one of the first completed projects within Abu Dhabi's Saadiyat Cultural District. By 2019, it had attracted 2 million visitors, making it the most visited museum in the Arab world and earning recognition as France's largest cultural project abroad.
