The Belbas Center, originally built in 1905 on the University of South Dakota campus in Vermillion, is a Richardsonian Romanesque arsenal that has undergone numerous transformations since its construction as an armory. The historic structure has served variously as barracks, an athletics facility, and a recreation space, and now houses the university's admissions, registrar, and financial aid offices. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the building exemplifies the robust architectural style characteristic of late nineteenth- and early twentieth-century military construction.
