Belcourt, a châteauesque mansion designed by Richard Morris Hunt for Oliver Hazard Perry Belmont, stands on Bellevue Avenue in Newport, Rhode Island. Built between 1891 and 1894, this former summer cottage was conceived as a seasonal residence, occupied for only six to eight weeks annually. The sprawling structure synthesizes multiple European architectural traditions, with prominent emphasis on French Renaissance and Gothic decoration alongside borrowings from German, English, and Italian design. A distinctive feature of the Gilded Age estate was its extensive stables and carriage areas, unusually integrated into the main building itself rather than relegated to separate outstructures. The property is listed as a contributing structure on the National Register of Historic Places.
