Bellevue Palace, located in Berlin's Tiergarten district on the banks of the Spree River, has served as the official residence of the president of Germany since 1994. Designed by Michael Philipp Daniel Boumann and completed in 1786, this Neoclassical schloss sits near the Berlin Victory Column along the northern edge of the Großer Tiergarten park. The palace's name—French for "beautiful view"—reflects its scenic prospect over the Spree's course. Today it is recognized as a cultural heritage monument in Berlin.
